On July 2, 2019, at approximately 6:05 PM, Eagan officers were dispatched to a domestic assault involving a firearm. Officers located the suspect who was still in possession of the firearm. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to contain the man near the 1900 block of Seneca Road, where they began negotiating with him. Officers asked the man to put down his gun and follow their directions. They attempted to negotiate with the man for several hours.
At some point during the negotiations, shots were fired. Lifesaving measures were attempted, however the man was later pronounced dead at Regions Hospital. No officers were injured during this incident.
